Students and Families
College is an investment in your future. We are glad that you are considering your higher education options as two years community college or four years university alternative. This web site is designed specifically to help Tennessee Hispanic students and families get more information about the college and/or university process.
At the top of each page there is a button for switching from English to Spanish. We hope it that can help you read through the site with your parents. The more everyone knows about colleges and universities, the more comfortable they will be with the options.
On the left-hand side of the screen you will see a number of pages listed. Each of these contains different information. The contact page provides Hispanic outreach contacts at colleges and universities across Tennessee. It also has information about Hispanic-specific campus programs and organizations. Not all of the schools in the state are listed, but you will find many.
If you have questions about a specific college or university be sure to call the admissions office and ask them. Higher education institutions are making a real effort in Tennessee to help Hispanic families get more information about college.
Higher Education Professionals
"Avancemos Juntos" is a resource. It provides basic college and university information for students and families. It has contact information for some colleges and universities in Tennessee, in English and Spanish.
We’re hoping those listings can also help you to make new contacts and trade ideas. It is by no means a complete list of colleges and universities. If you would like to have your institution listed, please, contact us. It would be helpful to list any Hispanic specific programs you have and any bilingual faculty or staff that can be contacted for more information about your institution.
This web site will have news about upcoming conferences and meetings that can help you in your Hispanic outreach effort. If you have Hispanic-oriented professional development events that you think would be of interest to other higher education professionals, please let us know and we will list them here.
